Tollywood gets back on track with No 2 Pos

Telugu film industry has finally regained its second spot when it comes to the total number of feature films produced in the country. Tollywood has sealed the second spot surpassing Kollywood and standing only next to the Bollywood.

According to the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) annual report, about 206 films were produced in Hindi, 192 films in Telugu and 185 films in Tamil for the year 2011.

When compared to 2010, while the number of Telugu films (+11) has increased, both Hindi (-9) and Tamil films (-17) showed a clear decline. In 2010, about 215 films were produced in Hindi, 202 films in Tamil and 181 films in Telugu.

CBFC report for the year 2011: Hindi - 206 films, Telugu - 192 films, Tamil - 185 films, Kannada - 138 films, Bengali - 122 films, Marathi - 107 films, Malayalam - 95 films, Oriya - 38 films and English - 6 films.

The censor's scissors have worked more for Tamil films (4843 metres of film was chopped), for  Telugu films it was 3211 metres and for Hindi films it was 2535.

Ram Charan’s 'Evadu' on sets from Apr 27

Ram Charan’s next film 'Evadu' under Vamsi Paidipalli direction was launched formally on December 9th. Now the latest news is that regular shoot of the movie will commence from April 27th. The first schedule will be shot for few days in Hyderabad,in which few scenes on lead cast of the movie will be canned.

Ram Charan will join the shoot from April 30th as now he is in Mumbai for 'Zanjeer' shooting. Stylish star Allu Arjun will be doing a cameo in this film. Samantha is the female lead in this film. Ram Charan will do Vinayak’s film simultaneously with this movie. Dil Raju produces it under Sri Venkateswara Creations. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for this film.

NTR is the next Number 1

In January, when Mahesh broke records with Businessman, right after scoring a blockbuster with Dookudu, many felt that he is the next number one hero of Tollywood after Chiranjeevi. When Mahesh fans firmly believe in their star's potential and when other heroes fans are slowly getting convinced by it, in came Racha and the debate about number one is on again.

Ram Charan posed serious doubts to the people who have written him off from the number one race. With a very weak script and an almost unknown director Ram Charan pulled off a mega heist at the box office with Racha. This shows his caliber and crowd pulling capabilities. Now who all have given full credit to Rajamouli for Magadheera's success are giving Ram Charan his due. As of now anybody among Mahesh, Pawan, NTR and Charan can be the next number one.

Only thing that counts is consistency. Mahesh never delivered more than couple of hits in a row. Pawan used to be immensely consistent in the past and NTR's biggest weakness has been inconsistency. Charan needs to deliver a series of hits to be up there. Until then whoever breaks the first week records with their star power will be considered the number 1 until some other hero come and breaks it. NTR is in the queue and stands a big chance to be the next number one as per this theory. All he needs is a 30+ crore share in the first week!

No Director Is Ready For Chiru!!!

Whether it is at 'Racha' audio function or 'Gabbar Singh' music launch, one thing can be clearly understood. Megastar Chiranjeevi is all trying to don the grease paint once again provided with a fantastic script. Are our directors ready?

Chiranjeevi is unable to control his passion towards movies and this is evident with the kind of views he is expressing. Last time he said that Tamanna is tempting him to act again and this time he stated that Devi Sri prasad's music is not allowing him to sit quiet. Though Chiru is giving green signal, Tollywood's top directors are unable to concentrate on him, say critics. Industry sources are saying that no sensational and ace directors are ready for Chiru's 150th film. It is not because they cannot direct him, but the availability of their dates. Big guns like Rajamouli, VV Vinayak, Puri Jagannadh, Sreenu Vytla, Trivikram and Boypati Seenu are busy with their own commitments.

So, Chiru should depend on someone new yet moderately successful like Sampath Nandi and Vamsi Paidipalli to make his 150th film. Insiders say that Chiru will not act with any small and budding director provided with the stature he has and the expectations fans will have about his re-entry movie. Rumor is that Chiru is sending feelers to Tamil director Shankar by applauding him a lot whenever he gets a chance. 'Gabbar Singh' music launch too witnessed such praising of megastar for Shankar in directing Rajnikanth. Let us see how the dreams of Mega fans about their heartthrob hero's re-entry will come true!

Rajamouli Vs. Sreenu Vytla Vs. Trivikram

The comparision is not between the talents of these talented directors of Telugu Film Industry. It is regarding grabbing dates of hero and a film with him.

Apparently these three directors are tightening screws to lock Powerstar Pawan Kalyan's dates for a movie with him. Rajamouli expressed many a times his interest to direct Pawan Kalyan. 'Who'll say no if they get a chance to direct Pawan', questioned Rajamouli many times. Trivikram has already done 'Jalsa' with this crazy mega hero and scored a blockbuster. On the other hand, Sreenu Vaitla publicly expressed his desire at 'Gabbar Singh' audio launch to give him a chance for directing Powerstar.

After Gabbar Singh, Pawan will be doing Puri Jagan's 'Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu'. However, Rajamouli gets busy with Prabhas' movie and will not be available for almost 2 years. As Pawan Kalyan stopped experimenting with Tamil directors and started working with top brass Telugu directors in back to back films, Srinu Vaitla has fair chances to direct Powerstar soon. As of now, Pawan Kalyan's Gabbar Singh is ready and running on high expectations.

Nikhil's 'Caste Talk' Looks Silly

Young hero Nikhil is trying all possible ways to strengthen his position in Tollywood. He has brought 'caste talk' into the place now, to make heads turn.

Apparently, Nikhil is trying to woo a section of audiences with his 'caste' dialogues in an upcoming movie. His much delayed 'Disco' features some direct questions to hero about his caste. Finally, hero says that he is not from Reddy, Kapu, Kamma kulam, he is 'yuva-kulam'. With no other 'best' option available for him, Nikhil is heard resorting to such trouble raking dialogues, say insiders. However, critics strike this off saying caste dialogues are no more a sensational stuff with Telugu audience.

'Nikhil is not Charan or NTR to talk caste and vamsam dialogues. Provided with the immense talent he has, focus on subject and performance will create wonders rather these silly dialogues', a noted director said.

Flop Producer's Experiments With Son

After making few dud movies, producer MS Raju haven't recovered from the financial blow. He is now coming up with a new movie to launch his son and under his own direction.

After scoring a hit with 'Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana' in 2005, MS Raju never got another chance to feel happy. Even his directorial venture 'Vaana' has bitten the dust. He is struggling a lot from a couple of years to make his son Sumanth Ashwin a hero. With support from producer Maganti Babu and Dil Raju, finally MS Raju managed the launching of his son. However, he would have roped in a happening director or talented young guy to handle the direction. Surprisingly, he himself is directing once again and this is an experiment with his son's career, say critics.

Most Telugu directors who directed their own sons have failed miserably at the Box Office till date. List includes Dasari, K Raghavendra Rao, Kodanda Ramireddy and others. Can MSR do a better job than these seniors?

Porn Star Sunny Leone In Telugu Film!

One name that is echoing in the entire bachelor circuits of India is Sunny Leone. This porn star turned actress is giving restless nights to youth. How about if she scorches Telugu cinema screen?

Though she has given endless pleasure to eligible men as a porn-star, her scantily clad Indian girl acts are heard much more ravishing. Sunny Leone is all set to rock Indian screen as a lead actress through 'Jism2'. Mahesh Butt and Pooja Butt are the better explorers of heroine's sensuality than any other filmmaker in India. With a porn star joining them, there looks no limit in cooking an eccentric hot treat. Good news is that the makers are going to dub this film into Telugu and release it on the same date.

Earlier, 'Dirty Picture' and 'Ragini MMS' are dubbed like this to cash on the heat. One can expect the same wilderness and steaming raw scenes like its prequel, say insiders. Watch out for the film!
