Director's madness puts producer in trouble

Written By CineGlamour on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 | 8:42 pm

Director Teja is known for doing whatever he believes without thinking much about the logic. Teja's decision to stop the screening of his recent release 'Neeku Naaku Dash Dash' came as a shocker to many. The reason for stopping the screening is the main reason for the shock factor. Teja says that the film didn't shape up as per his expectations.

Teja is not impressed with the climax part of the movie and hence he believes that it has to be redone. But isn't it too late now? Teja doesn't think so! He decided to stop the screening and is all set to go for a reshoot. NNDD will be released with a new climax in few weeks. During the days where a film gets pirated right on the first day, can anybody take a worse decision than this?

NNDD may not be doing well, but it should be in theaters until the collections completely dry out. Removing it from theaters after five days is nothing but asking for more trouble. The producer who invested big money in this will be losing so much in it. Now with Teja's atrocious decision the losses will further go up. There are few producers who backed out off doing a film with Teja before Anand Prasad decided to make NNDD. All those producers must be thanking the almighty from this Dash project and Dash director!

Short tempered director's sexy heroines

Written By CineGlamour on Monday, April 16, 2012 | 4:35 pm

On an average, it is noticed that the directors in film industry tend to have one or the other crazy streak in them. While some are spontaneous, others are silent, few others are on their toes and then there are those who are absolutely short tempered. And Tollywood has one director known for his short fuse.

He is none other than the dynamic director Teja. Though he has been off the hook from the past four years, he now arrived with the film 'Neeku Naaku Dash Dash'. The talk in filmnagar has been about Teja and his eye for heroines. Right from his debut flick, Teja has been responsible for giving some really sexy starlets.

Notable among them are Reema Sen, Sada, Rakshita and the latest find in his kitty is Nandita. Many say that the common factor between these heroines is all of them have a domestic sex appeal which gives an extra kick. They are not glamorous but possess a natural oomph which is hard to resist. Credit for finding them goes to Teja.

Neeku Naaku Dash Dash

Written By CineGlamour on Sunday, April 15, 2012 | 7:21 am

Movie : Neeku Naaku Dash Dash
Rating: 2.5/5
Cast : Prince, Nandita, Teertha and others
Directed by : Teja
Produced by : Anand Prasad
Banner : Bhavya Creations
Music : Yashwanth Nag
Release Date : 2012-04-13

Director Teja was one of the biggest brand names in Tollywood a decade ago. But a series of flop products damaged his reputation as the director and he was forced to take a break from filmmaking after disastrous Keka. He is back again with Neeku Naaku Dash Dash, which is also the same old Teja's tree in new forest! After taking a very big break Teja believed that his old formula should work again and made an attempt. Let's see how it is...

What is it about?

Shiva (Prince) and Gayathri (Nandita) are workers at a yard that makes cheap liquor. They fall in love with each other. Falling in love is completely prohibited in that business and that puts the couple in trouble. Added to that Shiva steals crores of money from the liquor mafia goons for a reason. So the chase is on and like in every Teja's film the couple runs in to the forest and what happens next is left to your imagination.

Performances:
Prince is an okay looking guy. He did an Okay job as an actor. Nandita is good as rebellious Gayatri. She dominated the hero in every frame. She has cute looks. Teertha is fine as the baddie. Director failed to etch her character in a proper way. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao is good. Suman Setty is usual. Venu is Okay. The bald headed villain didn't look powerful enough.

On the Technical Front:

Yashwant Nag's music is passable. "Maa orri dash gadu" song is catchy and entertaining. Background score was done by Anup Rubens and he did a pretty decent job. Rasool's cinematography is an asset. Teja himself being a cinematographer, his films always have good visuals. Editing is alright. Dialogues are not up to the mark.

As a director Teja did an average job. There were few instances where he showed few sparks from his brilliant past, but on a whole he is yet to get into form. Teja should have come up with a better story and screenplay after taking a big gap. Instead he tried to play it safe. He doesn't have that extraordinary story narrating skills anymore. Those intelligent scenes which used to arrest the audiences are completely missing.

Analysis:

Neeku Naaku Dash Dash is a casual film with routine script. It doesn't have the elements to make the audiences involved in the film. There are many boring moments in the film. First half is pretty mediocre. Second half is slightly better with story moving to lush green locales.

There are many ups and downs throughout the film. First half an hour and last half an hour are the biggest drawbacks. It is better in the remaining part but not good enough to impress the audience. The film is likely to leave a below average to average impression.

Teja's trademark element that made his films successful has been missing in this one. Lack of powerful villain made the climax part very weak. There are shades of Shopping Mall movie in the backdrop. Enough home work is not done and hence NNDD ended up as a half baked product.

Although made at a low budget, the film will have to struggle hard to get back the investments amidst the tough competition.

Verdict:  Teja is still in 'Jayam' mode!

'Can't make good films with Tollywood Stars'

Written By CineGlamour on Saturday, April 14, 2012 | 12:05 pm

Tough task maker Teja (Director) clarified that he doesn't want to make films with Tollywood star heroes who locked themselves in a 'image' cage.

When asked about why he is not making films with Stars, despite having a lot of potential, Teja replied,"I can't make films with stars. In fact, I don't want to do with them, because we can't make good films with them. 6 songs, 6 fights, interval bang, big climax fight and in the remaining time slot we should tell the entire story. The same stories were recycled for every big budgeted film. We can't make something new. In the last 10 years, 'Ghajini' is the only different film done with a star hero in the lead role. Here, hero has an image. We can't make films coming out of that image. So, working with stars will be like working in jail."

Teja's take on Records - "In my opinion, records are waste. Every Friday new records will be created and existing ones will be shattered. Even my films broke some records in the past. But, we shouldn't estimate a film's potential comparing with records. What matters is the content, reach and the repeat value. records is not my game."
