State's electricity demands are reaching 296 million units, while the power production is not exceeding 258 million units resulting in 'power' tariff hike. CM states that deficit in supply of gas to Andhra Pradesh has resulted in deficit of power production. With our own state's minister holding Gas portfolio, the shortage of supplies definitely comes as shock. Jaipal Reddy, Congress MP from state and Minister for petroleum and natural gas has not at all intervened to increase the supply of gas to AP.
Reliance has already reduced their gas supply to Andhra Pradesh, in spite of digging it from our own Krishna-Godavari basin. With CM stating that they have written letters to PM office many times to increase gas supply to state, Jaipal should have intervened to speed up the process. Most of the central cabinet ministers do favors to their own states when they are in a key portfolio unlike our state's MPs, say analysts.
