Airtel launches India's first 'high speed' 4G service

Telecom major Bharti Airtel on Tuesday launched its 4G LTE (long term evolution) network in Kolkata. This is said to be India's first 4G service.4G, the high speed wireless broadbrand service, offers services such has high definition video streaming, quicker uploads & downloads and multiple chatting.

The download speeds of 4G is upto 100 mbps, while for 3G it is upto 21 mbps and for 2G it is just 144 kbps. Airtel is also planning to expand the 4G service to the other cities in the country. Airtel has announced three tariff plans for its 4G service starting at Rs 999 a month for 6 GB of data, Rs 1399 a month for 9 GB of data and Rs 1999 a month for 18 GB of data. The speed limit after quota completion was set at 128 kbps for all the three tariff plans.

As an introductory offer on the Rs 999 postpaid plan, the customers will get one month's rent as money-back for a six months period. This means they will get a bill discount of Rs 167/bill every month. For Rs 1,399 and Rs 1,999 postpaid plans, customers will get two month's rent as money-back for a six months period. The bill discount will be Rs 466/ bill and Rs 666/bill respectively for every month.
