Shahrukh detained - US apologises, but India serious

Written By CineGlamour on Friday, April 13, 2012 | 10:06 pm

Indian government has taken the detention of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan at a New York airport very seriously. Although the US immigration authorities have expressed 'profound' apologies for the detention incident, external affairs minister SM Krishna has asked the 'Indian ambassador to US', Nirupama Rao, to take up the matter with the highest US authorities.

"It has become a policy of detention and apology by the US and this shouldn't be continued," said SM Krishna reacting strongly to the incident.

The immigration officials questioned Shahrukh for nearly two hours immediately after he reached US in a private plane at White Plains Airport. Finally, the clearance was given to the actor after the intervention by Indian Consulate General (CGI). SRK was in US to address students at Yale University.

"Whenever I start feeling too arrogant about myself, I take a trip to America. The immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom,"  said SRK reacting to his detention.

This not the first time Shahrukh was detained by the immigration officials in US. In 2009, the actor was detained at the Newark Airport in New Jersey.
