M/s Hotel Kamal Private Limited of the Ohri’s Group of Hotels had submitted a suo motu proposal to launch the restaurant on Hussainsagar.
“We have received the proposal and the Tourism department has given a green signal for the project. If all goes well, the floating restaurant will be ready in a year’s time,” said Ms Chandana Khan, principal secretary, Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture.
The tourism department had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the promoter during the Partnership Summit.
The Hussainsagar Lake is already dotted with several tourist projects including the famed monolithic Buddha statue, Bhagmathi and other cruises, not to mention a string of restaurants along Necklace Road.
The country’s first floating 49-room hotel is presently functioning in Kolkata in West Bengal.
