“Hate Story is my first Bollywood launch. Getting a female oriented film where the entire film revolves around you is great. The movie is so bold, so beautiful and so powerful.
As an actor, I would love to do a film that is about performance and showcases the power of women,” Paoli told UNI in an interview here.
Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, ‘Hate
Story’, produced by Vikram Bhatt, is being touted as an ‘erotic thriller’.
Infact, the promos and trailors of the film have put across the image of the film as a bold and ‘erotic thriller’.
The movie, which is about the transformation of a simple middle class girl to a sex worker to seek revenge, has been given an A certificate.
“Hate Story suddenly happened when one day, I got a call from Vikram. After hearing the story, I loved it- it’s so bold, so beautiful, so powerful and most importantly, it is so challenging. Any actor would love to do such a role. It’s a female-oriented film and I had a lot of space to perform,” the actress said.
Talking about her role, she said, “I play the role of a simple girl who tranforms to a powerful woman after she is betrayed and ditched, leading her to lose everything in her life. In itself, it is a unique and different idea.
This is what really struck me about the character and I found it to be very challenging and interesting. I have enjoyed playing Kavya.”
Talking about her career in Bengali films, where too she has done several bold roles like that in the Bengali film ‘Chatrak’, Paoli said, “I come from Kolkata and have worked in several films there with the stalwarts of Bengali cinema.” ‘Hate Story’ also features Nikhil Dwivedi and Gulshan Deviah in key roles.
